My journey as a survivor

My name is Esmarie Fournet-Fayat and I am originally from South Africa. As a certified cricket coach, I have been promoting women's, men's and youth cricket in Regensburg for seven years.

 

I was also a Belgian international and played for nine years in national and regional leagues in Europe. I am still active in cricket.

 

During the pandemic in 2020, I founded the first women's cricket team in Regensburg. We were even the first women's cricket team in the Upper Palatinate.

In 2023, I led my team to the Bavarian championship title while simultaneously fighting breast cancer and undergoing chemotherapy at the Caritas St. Josef Hospital in Regensburg.

 

My family and my passion for cricket gave me a lot of strength during my treatment. It was out of this passion that I called the
The Pink Lady Cricket Tournament is being launched.
Under the motto "Together Strong Against Breast Cancer" and under the patronage of Alexandra Wolf, we have a big goal.

The Pink Lady Cricket Tournament aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and collect donations for patients during their treatment.

 

Having been diagnosed with breast cancer myself, I use cricket to convey hope and courage.
